Custom Adidas shoe

The custom Adidas Samba shoe I designed was special because anytime you can create projects based on things you already have around you, the subject becomes that much more memorable due to the time any tedious art project takes as it progresses.

I used this thinking when taking on the challenge of using Adobe Illustrator to paint entirely using the gradient mesh tool. Each component and detail was keenly observed to try to make this shoe look as realistic as possible while using a more time-consuming coloring method. When I applied clipping masks to textures of the shoe it became much more aesthetically pleasing and dimensional.

After the gradient mesh painting, I created a tabloid-sized poster for it as well as applied it to a magazine Ad page. One could only dream, a shoe I design makes it to magazines commercial advertising on high audience platforms!

Class Assignment:
Poster Design | Photo Edit | Gradient Mesh | Illustration

Rationale:
This graphic was inspired by the challenge to make an ad for an item I could already find in my house. I chose a shoe that I designed, and designed it as if this was an artist collaboration w/Adidas and this was my would-be print ad for my own signature shoe.

Specifications:
Digital design originally for output on 17”H x 11”W poster | CMYK | resizable format for mockup of magazine ad space
