Lovin’ You was an anniversary present for a friend. Starting with the reference I was given, I soon realized I had to get into my bag of tricks and get back into drawing mode. Since the reference was framed and cropped badly, I had to use knowledge of anatomy and perspective to draw the rest and quite literally fill in the gaps. Once I finished line work I used the selection tool to make groupings for color separations.
I learned, as far as Photoshop paintings are concerned, this was a very smart way of painting to keep file size smaller by not demanding an extra set of color mode channels for each layer created. The process also allows you to refer back to channel selections so that changing colors or changing specific sections can be done as often as needed without doing a lot of drawing over again. Once mastered, I don’t see a reason to paint any other way in Photoshop.
